SERIES GUIDELINES
ANNOUNCEMENT: .
The RIVERINA INTERCLUB CHALLENGE combines three interclub series of different disciplines of motorcycling.
These three disciplines are
Enduro (LEAPING LOG CROSS COUNTRY SERIES)
Motocross (WANABROOK HOLESHOT MX SERIES)
Dirt track (GOLDEN WHEELS SERIES)
No animals except guide dogs will be allowed at any venue.
JURISDICTION: .
These Series will be held in accordance with these guidelines, the (2008 Manual of Motorcycle Sport) GCR's of Motorcycling Australia
(MA), the By-Laws of Motorcycling NSW and Motorcycling Victoria and any additional instructions issued and / or approved by the
Steward or Clerk of Course.
RIDER ELIGIBILITY: .
ALL AGES FROM 4 YEARS CATERED FOR!
Riders eligible to enter include financial members of any of the participating Clubs in EACH RESPECTIVE SERIES, and who are
holders of current Junior / Senior Club or National Licenses. One-Event Licences (OEL) are available from each of the Clubs at $50
ea if organized prior to the day of the event, or $70 ea if purchased on the day. OEL applicants must be a full member of a Club
participating in the series, Senior OEL applicants must produce an expired competition license or complete and pass both a Theory
and a Practical test, and Junior OEL applicants must produce an expired competition license or Proof that the applicant has met the
requirements of the junior training/Coaching Policy (JTCP). Club Membership Cards, Licenses and "JUNIOR COACHING
PROGRAM COMPETITOR LOG BOOK" must be produced at Sign-on at every meeting. Or a relevant Declaration completed $$$.
CLASSES ALL SERIES: .
A minimum of six (6) riders is required to constitute a class. A non constituted class means that points earnt from that class on that day
do not tally towards highest points scorer perpetual trophies. Where possible, classes will be combined where grid permits (to save time)
but will be scored separately. The Committee reserves the right to cancel classes from the series if there are insufficient entries (less
then 6) at the first round of each series if that class is eligible to compete in another class, and also to regrade riders who are obviously
performing well above the level of the class entered. Rider grading will be reviewed after the first round, and 'Clubman’ riders may be
elevated to 'Expert' at the discretion of the Committee. The top three overall Clubman riders in each series will automatically progress to
Expert Class for the following season provided a podium finish has been achieved at least once.

Presentation approx 30 mins after completion of racing.
Riders must enter all classes in which they intend competing in - failure to do so will see the rider black-flagged! NO late entries will
be accepted. All riders seeking a OEL must present themselves in sufficient time for rider testing and the issue of such License prior to
entry closing times as per events timetable. The Indemnity must be signed on entry. Where a rider is under 18 years the indemnity
must ALSO be signed by a parent/guardian who must remain at the venue during the event. A juniors age is the age they were on the 1st
of January 2008. One-day memberships MAY be available at the discretion of the host Club, who reserve the right to reject any entry.
What to bring to sign-on: Club membership card, Competition License or OEL;
Junior riders must present their "JUNIOR COACHING PROGRAM COMPETITOR LOG BOOK" at entry.
Parent/guardian MUST ACCOMPANY THE RIDER to Sign-on if the rider is Under 18 yrs; and don't forget your $$$
A Temporary Guardian form (http://203.28.48.2/~motorcyc/PDF_Files/Club_Info/cl_guardianship_form.pdf) must be presented at signon
if the parent/legal guardian is not present at an event where the junior rider attends with friends or o ther family.
ENTRY FEES: .
Junior $30, Senior $40, PLUS $10/class for each additional class entered.
MACHINES: .
The following information is provided as a guide only!
For a full list of machine requirements at scrutineering, refer to Chapter 12 of the 2008 Manual of motorcycle sports
All handlebar ends MUST be plugged, and gripes are to have the ends in place. Side-stands and centre-stands (except for 50cc
machines) and Bark busters must be removed for MX. Throttles must be self-closing; folding foot-pegs with return spring; wheel
spokes tight and in good condition; head-stem bearings, wheel bearings and swing arm joints to be in good condition. All mufflers
must be in a serviceable and good working condition so as to not create undue noise (max 96 dB) or sparks. If it is necessary for any
competitor to change to a different motorcycle, the Clerk of Course or the Race Secretary must be informed IN WRITING prior to the
change. The replacement machine must be of the same or smaller capacity, and must also be scrutineered. Machines over 85cc for dirt
track must be fitted with a speedway tyre on the rear.
RIDING APPAREL: .
Helmet with AS 1698 (or approved) sticker intact; body armour is compulsory for ALL Junior entrants. All riding apparel must conform
to Rules 17.1.*.* for MX and junior grass track, Rule 25.1.*.* for Enduro and Rule 20.1.*.* for dirt track. All dirt track riders must wear
full back protection, This protection must be continuous and cover all of the back area between the collar and the base of the spine as per Rule 20.1.2.5 b).
SCRUTINEERING: .
All riders are to present the following items along with their bike, to the Scrutineer(s):
Entry 'coupon' issued during entry / sign-on process (one per machine)
Helmets
Body armour (mandatory for Juniors only)
Full back protection (Dirt track all riders)
RIDERS' BRIEFING: .
Is COMPULSORY! All riders must sign their entry card at the completion of riders briefing ready for presentation as they enter the track
for their practice.
RIDING NUMBERS: .
MOTOCROSS & DIRT TRACK
Riders are to supply their own race numbers conforming to Rules 6.4.3 and 6.4.4. Numbers shall be applied to the front and both sid e
plates of bikes, and a corresponding back number is COMPULSORY. One and two -digit numbers are preferred. All numbers will be
allocated on a 'first-in, first-served" basis. Registered numbers issued by the SCB will be accommodated where possible. The numb er
used by each rider in any class at their first event will be retained for the rest of the season, unless otherwise directed, Numbers MUST
be legible (i.e.: clean!!!! at the commencement of every race. Lap scorers will NOT record illegible rider numbers.
ENDURO
All seniors and 125cc/250cc Junior class will be provided with riding numbers at each event. Junior grass track classes may
generally use their existing MX numbers.
PRACTICE: .
MOTOCROSS & DIRT TRACK
Will be three laps for every class. Practice order will be advised on the day.
ENDURO
Mandatory sighting lap for ALL Juniors
RACE FORMAT: .
MOTOCROSS
Starts are 30 position backward falling gates. Race duration is 50cc, 65cc and Junior Trail Classes - 7min+l lap. all other junior & all
senior classes 10min+l lap with three races per class at each meeting. The Host Club reserves the right, with the Steward's approval, to
alter race times if necessary. If necessary, elimination heats will be conducted to select 30 finalists. If time permits, a non-scoring
consolation race for non-finalists may be run.
ENDURO
Junior 125cc / 250cc: 2 x 1hr sessions with approx 1 hr break in between.
Races may be extended to 1.5 hrs each, if all competitors in the class agree.
Junior grass track series - minimum of 3 x 15 min motos on a natural terrain, grass-track style course.
Seniors: All classes except Pony Express will be for solo competitors who complete Trail & Sprint laps alternately. Where possible these
laps will be on separate loops. The number of laps will be determined by the length of course but, will be at least 3 hours depending on
conditions. Over 35's will complete a reduced number of laps. The pony express class will compete for 4 hrs.
DIRT TRACK
Starts are (12 position for solo) (4 position for sidecars) (6 position for quads) backward falling gates. Race duration is 4 times over
the finish line for 125cc Junior/250cc 4 stroke and all senior classes. All other Junior classes 3 times over the finish line, with four
races per class at each meeting. The Host Club reserves the right, with the Steward's approval, to alter race times if necessary. If
necessary, elimination heats will be conducted to select (12 Solo) (4 Sidecars) (6 Quads) finalists. If time permits, a
non-scoring consolation race for non-finalists may be run.
SCORING: .
Points for each race will be awarded as per Rule 12.14 : 25/lst, 22/2nd, 20/3rd, 18/4th, 16/5th, 15/6th, 14/7th, 13/8th, 12/9th, ll/10th,
10/llth 9/12th, 8/13th, 7/14th, 6/15th, 5/16th, 4/17th, 3/18tb, 2/19th then 1 point for all other places. All riders shall receive at least 1 point
on the day for Rider Entry. In the event of a tied result in any class, a count-back shall award the higher placing to the rider with the
highest score in the final race on the day. If a tie on points occurs for any position at the end of either series, the tying competitor who
has the greatest number of higher places in the series will be awarded the position, as per GCR’s
In all Series , cumulative points for overall Class placings at each event will be allocated thus:
25/1st, 22/2nd, 20/3rd, 18/4th, 16/5th, 15/6th, 14/7th, 13/8th, 12/9th, ll/10th, 10/11th 9/12th, 8/13th, 7/14th, 6/15th, 5/16th, 4/17th, 3/18th,
2/19th then 1 point for all other places. A maximum of 25 points can be accrued per class per event.
E.g. 3 x 1st place=3 x 25=75 points=class win on the day, but cumulative Series points are 25.
WORKERS POINTS for Leaping Log competitors shall only be awarded at a maximum of 10 points per day per rider / team. Acceptance of the competitor as a worker shall be at the discretion of the host club of the respective round. Validation of acceptable level of work and allocation of points shall be decided by the Series Committee in discussion with the host club. Workers points are not allocated for junior
competitors.
PIT AREA: .
No riding of motorcycles in the pits or car park. Riders must dismount prior to re -entering the pits. Failure to comply will incur a penalty
of $20 or loss of p oints for the day, at the discretion of the Clerk of Course. A PIT BOARD AREA will be nominated. Rider agents in
the Pit Board area must be a minimum of 18 yrs of age and must be nominated by the rider prior to racing commencing. Rider agents
must sign the indemnity form before entering the track.
No smoking in the pits. No bicycles to be ridden in the pits. No open footwear in the pits.
PIT BIKES ARE PROHIBITTED
No competitor or any other persons shall be permitted to ride pit bikes anywhere at these series events.
PROTESTS: .
Riders who wish to register a protest must obtain the Protest Flag (purple) situated in the Exit Lane of the race circuit and wait for an
Official's direction. Under no circumstances will a protest from a junior competitor be heard if the rider has left the race circuit and
re-entered the pit area. If the protest proceeds, it must be submitted in writing to the Clerk of Course, and be accompanied by the $70
protest fee.
FLAG MARSHALLS: .
Will be drawn from Rider entries (one per family), Riders unable / unwilling to provide a flag marshal may fulfill their flag duty
during Practice, after which they will have a separate Practice. This option will be issued on a “first in first-served" basis and is
available to seniors only. Subsequently any rider failing to provide a flag marshal will be penalised either through exclusion or loss
of points. Flag marshals must be 16 yrs of age or older (parental/guardian permission required if under 18yrs) and MUST sign on prior
to entering the track. What the flags mean: (Rule 12.13.0.2) - Red: Race / practice stopped. Immediately return to pits/starting grid
- Compulsory for everyone. Black - stationary and Pit Board with rider number: Rider number shown must stop at pits on next lap.
Yellow - held stationary: Danger ahead, slow down, overtaking forbidden. Yellow - waved: Immediate danger, slow down & prepare
to stop, overtaking forbidden & no jump ruling applies (Rule 17.8.2 ). Green: Course clear. White with Red Cross: First Aid required.
Pit Board with words “LAST LAP”: Indicates last lap of any event. Chequered Flag: Finish of race; proceed slowly and with caution to
the pit gate and dis mount.
BUNTING OR TYRES MARKING THE TRACK must be observed at all times. Any rider gaining advantage by leaving the track
confines will be penalised.
AWARDS: .
At each round awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each class. All 50cc non-competitive entrants receive an award. Those
awards not collected will be forfeited. One lucky entrant's prize to the value of approx $50 will be drawn at presentation for b oth
Junior & Senior Entrants on the day. To be eligible for the prize pack you must enter an event on the day, write your name / riding No.
on the front of your entry card, present to scrutineering for marking, attend riders briefing and sign off your entry card that you have
done so, present your entry card at the start grid of your practice and attend the days presentation.
END OF SERIES PRESENTATION: .
Trophies will only be awarded to those who have competed in at least 3 rounds in either
Series. 1st, 2nd & 3rd Trophies to top three point-scorers in each class over all rounds in their respective series. 1st 2nd & 3rd place
trophies will also be awarded to Female riders with the highest accumulative points in any one class in ether series. A Junior &
Senior Perpetuals to highest point scorer in each Series over all rounds in their respective series. Points for this award may only
be accrued from ONE class in each series. A Junior and Senior Encouragement Award will also be presented. The Under 9yrs
50cc non-competitive entrants who compete in at least 3 rounds will receive an award for that Series. Mementos will be awarded
to any riders who enter all rounds. Trophy recipients must be in attendance to personally collect their own trophies - those not in
attendance will forfeit their trophies.
