Posted 2 August 2008

If anyone wants to keep a track of Errol's results in the heats and qualifying finals at the Australian Championships which ends this Friday, you can follow Errol's progress from My Laps website which is updated regularly. The Wanneroo MX Track is a very unforgiving Sand Track (unlike our Riverina MX tracks so Errol will have to dig deep to overcome the tough conditions).

Errol will be putting in his best effort as the sole representative for the Wagga Motor Cycle Sports Club and we all do congratulate him on his efforts so far.

A word from our president.....

Posted 23rd August 2008

What a great year it has been with somewhere to ride almost every weekend without having to travel to far. Our practice days on friday afternoons attracted lots of riders. We will continue these when daylight saving starts again. We will have a busy fews months with dirt track & MX club days coming up & a rescheduled Wanabrook round will be the 9th Nov 08. In my opinion our Amcross ran smoothly & successfully with majority of riders complementing the track. We had a problem with our toilets but now know the root of problem and will be fixed asap. The main reason for not having as many practice days as we could is due to lack of officials which is a continuing problem, out of 10 people doing courses at start of year only 1 has been accredited. We can hold practice days anytime but we need more officials. As this will be my last year as president we are looking for a new incoming president. Someone who just does local stuff would be ideal. I will be happy to help anyone who is interested. Cheers Garry Williams

Errol's off to Perth!

Just filling you all in on a young Wagga Wagga Rider, Errol Willis, who is nearly ready depart to the West for the Aussies. Errol has managed to finish in the top 3 in both classes of Amcross 2008 where the final round was held on Sunday at Picton.   I am unsure of his final results maybe finishing first overall on the 150/85cc class, but within the top 3 in both 85/150cc and 125cc classes.  Saturday saw dusty and dry conditions for the Juniors, with Sunday racing an atrocious day for Senior Riders (wet day - muddy and very slippery track).

Errol will be departing Wagga soon to compete in the Australian Junior Motocross Championships in Wanneroo (near Perth) which kicks off on 28th September for a week of qualifying and motocross racing.

Errol is entered in three classes at the competition proving a challenge to compete on the Sandy track which is unlike local tracks around the Riverina.  However, Errol has been training hard in the sand whenever he has found the opportunity in the sand around the Wagga area . The three classes include - 85cc/150cc 13/14 yrs - 125cc 13/14 yrs and 250cc 4 Stroke 13/14 years. The Wagga Motor Cycle Sports Club have no doubt that Errol is one of the leading junior riders competing at this event and hopefully all will go well for a podium result.

"Second place went to a young star of the future in Errol Willis on his Honda CRF 150cc.

One of the favourites to clean up this years Australian Junior Motocross Championships, Willis scored himself wins in both the Public Speaking and 'On Bike' Technique categories, while backing it up with a third placing in the Lap Time sector. The only chink in Errol Willis's armour came in the Shuttle Run Fitness Test with an eighth placing. "
